Garlic bok choy - Hong Kong style
Sometimes simple is the way to go. With this overly simple, absolutely stunning recipe, you’ll never have bok choy any other way!
Prep:
Prep time: 5 mins
Cook time: 8-10 mins
Ingredients:
2 heads of bok-choy
4 tbsp oyster sauce - you can use mushroom “oyster style” sauce as a veggie or vegan subsititute
1 tbsp low sodium soy
4 cloves sliced garlic
1 tbsp chicken bouillon
1 tbsp oil
black pepper to taste
Recipe:
Steam or blanch bok-choy for no more than 5 mins in hot water. Strain and set aside.
Heat oil in a saucepan on medium-high. Add the garlic and sauté until it’s golden brown, add the rest of the ingredients, and keep stirring for 2 minutes so that it does not stick to the pan and burn. The sauce should start to thicken because of the sugar in the oyster sauce. Once you get a gravy-like consistency remove the pan from the heat.
Arrange the bok choy horizontally on a serving plate and pour the sauce over it.
Best Serve with fluffy jasmine rice and other condiments or serve by itself.
